desktop gauge · always on top
Watch your quota
like it's redlining.
Monizard is a small always-on-top desktop widget for Windows, macOS, and Linux that keeps an eye on Claude subscription usage and Codex CLI usage, at a glance, without opening a browser tab.
The instrument
Two 270° tick-mark dials show the short-window and weekly percentages for whichever provider you're watching — green when usage is low, red as it nears the limit — plus the time of the last successful poll. No tab to open, no dashboard to remember: it just sits there, always on top.
How it reads usage
-
Claude mode reads the subscription usage endpoint, which only
works with an OAuth token for a paid Claude Max or Pro plan. Claude Code holds
that token in memory; a
SessionStarthook copies it to a local file every time Claude Code launches, and the widget — which runs outside Claude Code — reads it from there. - Codex mode asks the local Codex CLI app-server for its own rate-limit read, so the dials match Codex's quota buckets without scraping the interactive terminal UI.
- Cursor mode reads the session token Cursor's desktop app already stores locally, since Cursor has no individual-scoped public API.
- It polls on an interval (15 minutes by default, 5–60 configurable), lives as an always-on-top floating widget or a menu-bar / tray icon, and can optionally show a collapsible monthly commit calendar underneath the dials.
